You will be hunting through magazines for two words.

Find a word that describes how you feel other people perceive you.
Find a word that you feel accurately describes you.

Set your camera to Macro mode. You may need manual focus for this, depending on whether or not you can get the camera to autofocus on such a tiny subject.

Choose a background that reflects the nature of your word. If it's cheerful, consider daylight or a bright background. If it is negative, think about a darker scene. If it is a word like "creative" you might find a colorful, artistic background.

You are going to hold this word in front of you, extending your arm outward. The idea is to get very close to the word so we can still see your person's face, but it is blurry.

The camera will focus on the word, but thanks to a shallow depth of field, your blurry portrait will be in the background.

Use your Photoshop knowledge to bring as much emotion and feeling as you can to your image. For example, the bright blue colors didn't feel dark and heavy enough for the word "guilt", so I changed to black and white. I also added a vignette to make my subject feel more trapped or "boxed in".

You must turn in a WORD document containing your business card and the link to your personal website by the end of TUESDAY (Tomorrow).

Turn in your magazine cover in the Photo II folder.

Visit Wix.com or Weebly.com to create a free website. If you have another site in mind, that's ok, too.
You can check out Me and Jake's example here: 915photography.wix.com/ninefifteen

Create your account and begin putting your professional site together.

TIPS for professional sites:
- You want the site to look CLEAN. No animated or bright, distracting backgrounds.
- You want all your pages to match. Different themes and fonts on each page can look random, disorganized, or chaotic
- Keep fonts simple. Crazy fonts can look juvenile/immature.
- Show ONLY YOUR BEST. Never show your poor work just to fill a space. Quality over quantity.

Here are some good student examples from past years:

http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/make-a-trendy-double-exposure-effect-in-adobe-photoshop--cms-23774

Here is a link to the double exposure technique.
YES, You may have figured out your own easier way of doing it, BUT I want you to try this method because it has you learning a new tool called a "clipping mask", which you have never used.

You must use all your own photos. You will need 1 simple portrait and 1 natural backdrop. You want your natural backdrop to be kind of "busy" like a bush or tree bark. Look at the examples to see what I mean.

Drop your finished Surreal piece in the folder. Here is a preview from next week's tutorial:

Good morning!

You will start concentration piece #4, which will be due Friday.
Take advantage of the puddles outside for interesting reflection shots, if this pertains to your concentration theme. Think about your theme and how it could be used in a reflection. You can get some really interesting results!

This just in: CONGRATS to Cheyann for winning 1st place and Kevin for winning honorable mention in the advanced photo category at the MJC show!
