Variety and Unity

You will be creating a self portrait image like the one on the M:/. You will do one nature and one person. The project is simple and fun:

1. Take your photo
2. Open it in Photoshop. You can do the slices many different ways. Perhaps the fastest way is  this:
3. Use rectangular marquee to select a slice.
4. Experiment with hue/saturation, levels, black and white, etc. from the Image-->Adjustments menu. Then you can choose Filter--> Filter gallery to select some even more creative effects.
5. Repeat until you have many different slices of special effects.
6. Use pen tool to outline key details in the image (See printed example)

USING PEN TOOL TO OUTLINE:
Set your BRUSH tool to the size you would like your outline to be, and make sure you have selected 0% hardness. Then go to pen tool and use the pen tool to outline your object. Right click and select "Stroke Path". Select "brush" from the drop down menu and click ok.

Its basically telling Photoshop to use your brush settings to draw the outline.

Name your banner LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_Banner.jpg
I have added a turn-in folder on the M:/ Turn in your name banner today by the end of the period. (As usual, you have a week from today to get it in the folder, BUT I will be adding the scores to Aeries during break, so it may show up as a missing assignment).

I also added a Quarter 2 extra credit folder, so you can begin collecting your things for extra points there. Just make sure your name is on everything.

On the M:/ you'll find a PDF tutorial and several source images. Download the source images and complete the tutorial. There are 3 photos you must complete using layer masks.

I prefer you use layer masking from now on instead of using destructive editing tools like the eraser. Layer masking never deletes any of the pixels- just hides them.

Run a 1x3 contact sheet for your edited photos and turn in to the Photo II folder.

Photo II: There is a turn in folder for your READ Posters. You should have 3 faculty members and 1 personal poster. You can name your posters LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_READ1.jpg, READ2.jpg etc.
