Tuesday

Good morning guys!
If you picked your teachers and began sending your emails yesterday, that is wonderful. If not, you can skip yesterday and wait until I get back Wednesday to pick your teachers. Please read yesterday's post if you didn't already so you know what's going on.

Whether you started emailing teachers yesterday or not, you will still need something to do while you wait for replies and schedule your appointment to photograph people. So what do you do??

.... Wait for it..... Make your own READ poster! It will be fun. You get to decide what activities or features define you as a person. What props could you find and bring that would create a READ poster that says something about how YOU are?

First, go through this entire site, examining what the original posters were used for and what the campaign was all about. Look at all the visual examples. These will be your best models. Do you recognize any of the old celebrities? http://bookriot.com/2013/12/03/celebrity-read-posters-80s-90s/

Get a piece of paper.
  • I want you to brainstorm a list of roles you play in life. Are you a student? A big sister? A soccer player? An actor? A romantic? An artist? An animal lover? List as many as you can think of.
  • The second list I want you to make is what props or settings would serve as visual cues to that role. For example, a soccer player would probably be photographed on the soccer field with a soccer ball, maybe even in uniform. An animal lover could be photographed in nature holding an animal (maybe just a stuffed animal).
  • Third, I want you to make a list of your favorite book or textbook. So, for example, my favorite book as a kid was the Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, but I also like Psychology, so I might also list a Psychology textbook.
